Although this blog is focused on fresh, home or church made pierogies, I think its important to recognize the options for grocery store frozen pierogies. Mrs. T’s defines this category and of course is our basis of comparison for all pierogies. Giant Eagle now makes their generic version. I found this one, Granny’s Gourmet at Giant Eagle Market District and I thought I give it a shot. Its odd that I must cook this in the oven for an hour. Kind of like a pierogi meat loaf? I’ll tell you the results to see if they are truly worthy of the Granny title.

I’m interested in how the Granny’s brand tasted, but already I’m suspicious, just because of the word “margarine” on the label. Try the pierogies from St Mary’s in McKees Rocks. Some of the best I’ve found.
Love this blog. Keep it up.
I’ll put out the review in the next post. I’ve tried 4 types so far. All so bad.
I have tried these and they are very good! I am biased though because I am all about easy and these came with the butter and onions! Yum!
I have tried these and love them, They are great for picnics. I have cooked these on my gas grill in the summer and take them to parties when I need a covered dish. I Always have a few trays in the freezer for last minute parties. Can’t beat them they are the best.
I buy these pierogies at Giant Eagle and Walmart all the time. They also make a great haluski dish. I’ve used them for family dinners and cookouts and everyone loves them. Easy and delicious!
I always keep these pierogies on hand in my freezer. They’re great to have for weekday dinners because they are so easy and convenient. They taste delicious – like they were home made.
